Achieving the Outcomes:
Outcome 1: Reflect Critically on Contemporary Educational Practices and the School Curriculum, in the Global Context.
Evidence in a collection of various resources gathered throughout the semester- collated via Evernote
Justification
To accomplish this outcome not only is an understanding of what role education plays in the global context required; but also a concise comprehension of this global context is vital. I have chosen to express my comprehension of this outcome with a collection of readings on the digital age, and how education has had to change because of it, specifically Australian education. With the changing to a national curriculum, our country has truly had the opportunity to fully assess the material our students are learning and also the most opportune way to learn it. This is where the integration of technology is most advantageous.
The collection of sources I have gathered through Evernote, discuss various aspects of this global change and the current paths we have taken as a society. It depicts the integrated role technology has played and is playing in the 21st century and hence how this technology affects education as an excerpt from the ACER article illustrate:
‘School education has responded to the application of digital media through a number of innovative programs such as Education Network Australia (EdNA) and the Digital Education Revolution (DER) in Australia.’ (White, 2013).
White then goes on to explain that ICT is incorporated throughout each learning area in the Australian curriculum via general capabilities and content descriptors. The other sources listed elaborate on White’s framework of 21st century skills: Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving and Communication and Collaboration (White and ACARA, 2013). They also discuss various components of the digital age. So, in collecting these various sources and commenting on them I believe I have effectively displayed my ability to reflect on the digital and education practices involved.

Outcome 2: Reflect Critically on on Societal and Professional expectations of education in an Era of Rapid Change.
Justification
This outcome expands on previous one and requires an elaboration on the skills needed for educating students within this digital revolution.
In completing this outcome I created an audio recording and blog post identifying the rapid digital and technological changes within the 21st century along with the teaching skills necessary to combat this.
My audio recording discussed the various skillset required for educators to excel in this digital age. Specifically how I, personally, want to educate my students. The feedback from this assessment essentially stated that although my ideas were solid and rang true, they needed the support of quality sources and editing. Hence using White’s framework I updated the work by editing the transcript of the recording and making a word document available for download, which included the updates. Using the feedback to enhance my work.
Again with the my blog post, the feedback stated that although covering interesting material and exhibiting a clear understanding of the technology, I didn’t cover the material needed and my presentation was off. So in light of this I have posted another blog, which discusses and explains more than simply one challenge of teaching in the digital age and is more interactive then the last. Thus together with the edited transcript, all three writings fulfil the required outcome of reflecting critically on societal and professional expectations of teaching in the digital age.

Outcome 3: In Collaboration with Other Students Examine the Role of Emerging Technologies and Integrate Them Effectively and Creatively to Produce Challenging and Rigorous Learning Experiences and Curriculum.
Evidence in Blog Post on Collaborated list of Technologies
Justification
This outcome requires collaboration with other students about effectual digital tools to be applied within the classroom setting; as well as a discussion about the application of these tools of their effectiveness.
The evidence provided for this outcome is a blog post elaborating on some collaborative work I accomplished with Andrea McCloud. Together we both added to a list of technology that would be beneficial to use in the classroom not only for educating the students but also organising school life.
After assessing this list, I then chose to reproduce this information using GoConqr this mindmap is also included in the blog post. Creating this involved me exploring each app/software/website and connecting it to either having a communicative, collaborative, creative or critical thinking element. I used these headings so as to easily identify what role the tool would play in the teaching process.
The blog post also mentions an additional resource website, which I came across in my research of tech. tools. This site is an invaluable resource as it organises hundreds of potential tools into subject headings and provides details about the tool and it’s possible uses.
Hence I achieved the outcome by first creating the original list with Andrea- collaborating with other students to examine the role of emerging technologies. Then as I organised each tool I effectively analysed their impact on learning and schooling. The tools for school website is also a great addition to the information I have collated.

Outcome 4: Identify and Evaluate a Range of Multimedia Resources Including Emerging Technologies and Integrate them Effectively and Creatively to Produce Challenging and Rigorous Learning Experiences.
and
and
Outcome 5: Employ ICT to facilitate student learning and decision making and provide opportunities for student to be engaged in activities which are self regulating and co-operative.
Justification
Honestly I found it quite difficult to distinguish between Outcomes 3, 4 and 5: as essentially they all require the identifying of effective technological tools and using these seamlessly within a lesson. Outcome 3 does has a collaborative aspect to it but other then that it is difficult to discern difference between the outcomes beyond choice of wording:
3- Examine the Role of Emerging Technologies and Integrate Them Effectively- What is the role of Tech and how have you used it effectively.
4- Evaluate a Range of Multimedia Resources Including Emerging Technologies and Integrate them Effectively
Find tech. tool and use them effectively.
5- Employ ICT to facilitate student learning and decision making and provide opportunities for student to be engaged
Use tech effectively in student learning.
Hence note that evidence chosen for each outcome overlays accomplishment across all 3 outcomes. So the collaboration process and lesson plans chosen here, successfully cover achieving Outcomes 3 and 4 and 5.
Through the collaboration task over weeks 7-9 we listed and discussed various technologies as can be seen. The rough lesson ideas mentioned at the end of week 7 and 8, provide some solid ideas on how to integrate the tech mentioned within a lesson. I really like the year 5 English lesson we devised as it would be a quite interesting to watch the students manipulate the same information into what is ideal for each specific platform.
In the corresponding blog post I have included all the relevant information such as assessment brief, my final submission of two videos and the main rationale. I believe it is in the rationale where the accomplishment of this outcome can be effectively seen. The rational clearly states the engagement of students, the general direction of the project and the teacher involvement. The inclusion of ICT has clearly been achieved with not only the video creation but as the rationale explains the constant use of technology throughout the project.
The blog and rationale also detail the approach used- the 4C’s- to tackle the project. Making it a self-regulating and co-operative, therefore ticking all the boxes in achieving the outcome.

Outcome 6: Evaluate social and ethical issues associated with responsible, safe and legal use of learning technologies
Collection of Resources- collated via Blog Post
Justification
Online safety is a very important issue for me, I don’t think people fully understand how easy it is for security breaches, falsified information and manipulation to occur online and I think parents and teachers really need to be educated in safe online practice. In accomplishing outcome 6 I did extensive research into government support for online student safety specifically what Australia offers. With the collection of resources I again put them together in a blog post discussing the various tools and stressing upon the importance of online safety. I found Australia’s government support very thorough, especially learning that there is a direct link for students to report cyber-bullying.
However the resources I found through ASCD are truly brilliant! Ohler’s push for “digital citizenship” is a concept I can fully get behind: Educating about technology is just as important as educating about its use.
